Nagaur : Nagaur: Despite increasing winter, the prices of vegetables continue to remain hot instead of softening. There has been a setback in the hopes of falling prices of vegetables in winter. Bhindi, which was sold for Rs 60 per kg in just one month, is currently being sold in the open market at the rate of Rs 80 per kg. There has been no difference in the prices of garlic. It was Rs 400 per kg even a month ago. At present, garlic is being sold in the open market at Rs 100 per kg, while new potatoes are also being sold at Rs 40 to 50 per kg. Whereas potatoes are priced at Rs 28-30 per kg in the market. Traders say that the prices of vegetables have increased due to supply of vegetables from outside.
That’s why vegetables are expensive
Fruit-Vegetable Mandi Union President Ramkumar Bhati said that at present 99 percent of the vegetables are coming from outside. Cauliflower comes from Hanumangarh, Punjab, Ganganagar. Bhindi is coming from Kota and Bundi. New potatoes are coming from Punjab and tomatoes from Bhinmal and Ratlam. Garlic comes from Neemuch, Kota and Sikar, but it is an old crop. The new crop of garlic has not arrived yet. Because of this, there is no difference in the prices of garlic since a month. Due to higher demand for garlic as compared to demand, the price remains at Rs 400 per kg.
Vegetable prices should increase instead of decreasing.
Due to rising prices, the kitchen budget has started deteriorating. New potatoes are being sold at Rs 40-50 per kg. Tomato was being sold at Rs 120-150 per kg a month ago, there is no significant difference in its prices. Although it is being sold at Rs 60 per kg in the open market, the price of tomato in the market on Tuesday was Rs 40-42 per kg. Old potatoes are being sold at Rs 20-21 per kg in the market and Rs 25-28 per kg in the market. Ladyfinger is being sold for Rs 30-35 per kg in the market and its price in the market is Rs 80 per kg. Similarly, spinach which is costing Rs 7 to 10 per kg in the market is being sold in the open market for Rs 20-25 per kg.
