Nagaur : The fear of mining mafia in Nagaur villages is such that the efforts of the Mineral Department to stop illegal mining are proving to be dwarf. The department has been trying for five years to auction the lands that have been attached due to illegal mining, but due to the fear of mining mafia, no buyer even comes to bid, let alone buy the land. Revenue is based on the report of the Mineral Department regarding illegal mining. The department terminated the rights of 26 joint account holders of seven accounts. Still the illegal mining did not stop, so the Mineral Department attached the fields and conducted auctions four times to recover the fine amount, but the officials of the department remained sitting the whole day and no buyer came to participate in the auction bidding. Since 2018, the department has been continuously trying to auction the confiscated fields. Years ago, a fine of more than Rs 50 lakh was imposed on 26 account holders for illegal mining. Account holders are not paying the fine amount.
