Alwar : Preparations have started to conduct Alwar local body elections in the last week of December. Elections are to be held for Alwar Municipal Corporation, Bhiwadi Municipal Council and Thanagaji Municipality along with other bodies of the state. The Election Commission has issued a letter, stating that elections are proposed to be held in the last week of December. In such a situation, the names of the personnel preparing the voter list should be sent to the District Election Officer within seven days. Apart from the personnel who will be on election duty, names of 10 percent additional personnel will be sent. This will be reserved staff. Duty in elections will be imposed through software prepared by the Commission. It is said that if the preparations for the elections are not completed, they may be postponed till January 2025. Corporation elections in Alwar will be held on the basis of old delimitation only. The tenure of the Municipal Corporation Board is going to be completed on 26th November. Keeping this in view, the Election Commission has started preparations for the elections.
Reservation of wards is expected soon: The district administration has to reserve 65 wards for the municipal elections. It is said that this is possible in the first week of December. Reservation is to be decided through lottery system. Apart from this, the administration will also have to complete the work of voter list by this month. It is a challenge for the administration to conduct these elections in such a short time.
Political parties also started preparing: The message to political parties was that elections would be held by August next year. In such a situation, he was not engrossed in preparations. There was only speculation about the end of the board’s tenure, but suddenly after the letter issued by the Commission, the stir among political parties has intensified. Contenders for tickets from Mayor to Councilor have started the race.
