Ajmer, 22 November (IANS). Various issues were discussed between the district administration and people associated with the Dargah in the meeting organized on the occasion of 813th Urs of the famous Khwaja Garib Nawaz of Ajmer. In the meeting, emphasis was laid on providing better facilities to the people visiting the Dargah. Dargah Diwan’s successor, Syed Naseeruddin Chishti talked about providing high level facilities to the people visiting the Dargah and also gave information about the Urs programs. Meanwhile, Secretary of Anjuman Syed Jadgan, Syed Sarwar Chishti expressed his displeasure and said that the servants spend from their own pockets on the painting work of the Dargah, the administration should pay attention to this matter.
Syed Sarwar Chishti, secretary of Anjuman Syed Jadgan, told IANS, “The time table given by the Dargah Committee is not correct. Dargah Diwan is also mentioned. There is also a process of removing the sandals, but there is no mention of that either. The Dargah Committee has not had a nominated person for one and a half years and has not had a Nazim for three years. They do whatever they want, and the staff below also work as per their wishes. We have made a strong complaint in this regard to SP Sahiba, and she said that we will hold a meeting of all three institutions, but we feel that they do not understand nor do they spend any money. Whatever color is there in the Dargah, it is also done by our servants, and no one is responsible for whatever damage happens. These people act arbitrarily and give wrong time table. We also said that the Municipal Corporation has no work. Dargah area is not covered, like Imambara to Chhota Chowk, Bada Chowk, and Vicky Bazaar, all these are not covered.”
Giving information about the arrangements being made for the Urs, Syed Naseeruddin Chishti said, “The 813th annual Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti is going to start at the end of December. The tradition of offering Chadar will take place on 27-28 December. Earlier, a meeting was held with representatives of the administration and all concerned departments associated with the Dargah. In this, everyone expressed their opinion and stressed on making special preparations for this time’s Urs, because this time the Urs is in winter.
People stay outdoors and at rest places, so it will be important to ensure that they can stay away from the cold. The administration and concerned departments have been instructed to complete their responsibilities on time. As per the institutions and traditions associated with the Dargah, the flag will be hoisted on December 27-28, which will mark the formal beginning of the Urs. After this the moon will be visible on 1 January.
The gathering will begin on a moonlit night and will continue for six nights. On the first day, there will be a Chand Ki Mehfil and then on the 5th, there will be a camp of Khans from five states, which will include Sajjad Gaan and religious people from across the country. In this gathering, programs will run from Jauhar to Namaz, in which prayers will be offered in the name of the entire country.”
Syed Afshan Chishti, a servant who came to the Dargah, says, “A meeting was organized today with officials, stakeholders and representatives of government departments related to the Dargah area regarding the upcoming 813th Urs in Ajmer, which was presided over by SP Sahiba. In this meeting, we gave our suggestions, so that better arrangements can be ensured for the devotees coming during the upcoming Urs. We also requested the district administration that after discussing with all the stakeholders related to Dargah Sharif, arrangements should be made with consensus, so that there is no resentment among any community or stakeholder and Ajmer Sharif should be renovated keeping in mind the sentiments of everyone. Urs could be organized successfully.”
