Alwar : The water in Pushkar Sarovar is getting polluted due to the death of fishes. The religious faith of the devotees is also getting hurt. The local pilgrim priests complained about this to the district administration several times, but even after this the problem was not resolved. Now, angry, the pilgrim priests closed the Pushkar market and the entrance to the Brahma temple today (31 July). The pilgrim priests also stopped performing puja at the Pushkar Ghat, due to which the devotees had to return disappointed.
“The administration is not concerned about Pushkar Sarovar”
Pushkar Narayan Adali, the acting president of Tirtha Purohit Sangh Trust, said that fishes are dying in Pushkar Sarovar for the past several days. Several memorandums were given to District Collector Dr. Bharti Dixit to get rid of this problem. Several times it was also told verbally. But, no concrete action has been taken till date. Thousands of fishes are dying in the Sarovar every day, due to which foul smell is spreading on the 52 ghats of Pushkar Sarovar. The priests and devotees cannot sit on the ghat even for 5 minutes.
Pushkar’s market is closed since morning
The priests of Pushkar mobilized on this issue on Wednesday (31 July) morning. They stopped the devotees from entering the Brahma temple. They staged a sit-in protest by sitting on the steps of the temple. Some pilgrim priests also expressed their protest by closing a few shops that were open in the Pushkar market. During this, the priests also raised slogans against the District Collector. All the establishments in the Pushkar market were closed since morning.
Devotees coming from far away places faced problems
Devotees who came from Mathura said that the pilgrimage city of Pushkar is famous all over the country. The death of fishes in the lake is a very serious issue. The administration should pay attention to this. He has come to visit Pushkar with about 50 people from his family. They faced a lot of trouble due to the market being closed. They could not even have darshan of Lord Brahma.
Fish are dying due to lack of oxygen in the lake
Pushkar SDO Nikhil Kumar Poddar said that there is a continuous decrease of oxygen in Pushkar Sarovar, due to which fishes are dying every day. Every possible effort is being made to save the fishes. 4 oxygen fountains have also been installed in the Sarovar, through which oxygen is being supplied. Efforts are also being made to prevent dirty water from entering the Sarovar. Five tube wells have also been installed for fresh water, through which fresh water is being continuously released into the Sarovar. Lime is also being added to the Sarovar. Dead fishes are being taken out and removed from the ghats.
