Program organized for women in Sriganganagar Government College, Suratgarh

Sri Ganganagar : Under the auspices of the Women’s Cell of the Government College, Suratgarh, a lecture was organized on Tuesday in the Vivekananda Hall of the college on making women financially self-reliant. Lakshmi Devi Nanda, in-charge of the women’s cell of the college, said that the objective of this program was to give information to the girl students related to the formation of self-help groups, skill development and operation of micro and small industries.

College Principal Dr. Kamaljit Singh told the girl students about academic progress as well as about developing skills and their professional use. The main speaker of the program, Acharya Rajan Singh, Assistant Professor of Economics in the college, told about the rules and usefulness related to the formation of self-help groups.

He said that even in remote rural areas, women are running successful small scale industries with the help of self-help groups. For their promotion, financial assistance is provided by the state government, NABARD and other institutions. Women’s cell members Assistant Acharya Chandrakala and Parul Bhateja were also present in the program.
