Kolkata, 28 November (IANS). On Thursday, a kirtan was organized at the ISKCON temple on Albert Road in Kolkata to protest against the atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh and the arrest of monk Chinmoy Krishna Das.
While speaking to IANS in Kolkata, Radharaman Das, vice president and spokesperson of ISKCON, in response to a question, said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has spoken and asked how the devotees of Bangladesh are. We have received information that some talks are going to take place between the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said, “We hope that the Indian government will keep an eye on the situation. Some decision will be taken to provide security to the Hindus of Bangladesh as soon as possible.”
In response to another question, he said that many religious leaders including spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Baba Ramdev, Devkinandan Thakur have raised their voice. We thank them.
He said that many enlightened people are also sending petitions on social media to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that ISKCON temples should be safe. Many people of India are raising their voice. We are getting organized and raising our voice for the Hindus living in Bangladesh. It hurts the most when we forget people in their suffering. Now the people of Bangladesh feel that they have not been forgotten. We are praying for them. Our devotees pray for him every day.
It is noteworthy that Chinmoy Krishna Das, spokesperson of Bangladesh Sanatan Jagran Manch and head of Pundarik Dham in Chittagong, was detained by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday. He had been raising his voice against the atrocities on Hindus since the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government.
According to local media reports, Das was produced before Chittagong’s Sixth Metropolitan Magistrate Qazi Shariful Islam on Tuesday amid tight security. His bail plea was rejected and he was sent to jail.
