Bharatpur : Anti-social elements vandalized the statue of Constitution maker Bhimrao Ambedkar in Kaman police station area of Deeg district. The incident took place at 2:26 am on Sunday night. Tension spread in the area when it came to light on Monday morning. People of Dalit community demonstrated by burning tyres. The protesters were demanding the arrest of the accused. In protest, they blocked Ambedkar Chowk. The police who reached the spot had to face opposition from the people. The fire engine of the municipality was vandalized. Seeing the anger of the people, the municipal employees had to run away from the spot to save their lives. The protesters did not calm down even after the persuasion of the police officers. People of Dalit community sat on an indefinite dharna in Bhimrao Ambedkar Park. They warned that the dharna will be ended after the arrest of the accused.
Ambedkar’s statue broken for the second time in Kaman
Due to the protest, the shops around the bus stand also remained closed today. MLA Nauksham Chaudhary has given a 24-hour ultimatum to the administration. Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Meena said that on receiving information about the incident, ASP Kaman, Circle Officer, SHO are camping on the spot. The work of identifying the accused is being done. Teams will be formed and the accused will be identified on the basis of CCTV footage.
A youth with a cloth tied over his mouth was caught on CCTV
The young man has been caught on CCTV breaking the finger of the statue with a stone. The accused is wearing a cloth over his mouth while breaking Ambedkar’s statue. This is the second incident of breaking Ambedkar’s statue. On the night of 21-22 August, antisocial elements had broken the statue installed in Ambedkar Park. After the incident, a new statue was installed in Ambedkar Park by the administration.
