Yamunanagar (Haryana), December 8 (IANS). Amidst the efforts of farmers to march to Delhi, Haryana Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana said on Sunday that the Punjab government should solve the problems of the farmers of his state.
While talking to the media here, Shyam Singh Rana said that if there is a long movement anywhere then development gets hampered and industries start running away from there. Farmers should talk to the Punjab Government and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to find a solution to their problems. It is also the responsibility of Chief Minister Mann to listen to the farmers and other sections of his state. All farmers should meet the Chief Ministers of their respective states and get their problems resolved.
He told that a delegation of Farmers Union of Haryana has met him. He has discussed with them regarding the land on the National Highway. Regarding their conversation, he will talk to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and find a solution to their problems.
Farmer leaders also confirmed that they have spoken to the Agriculture Minister regarding the land issue who has assured action.
Earlier on Saturday, another Haryana government minister Krishna Bedi had claimed that the agitating farmers are not from Haryana. He said, “These are not the farmers of Haryana but the Jathedar farmers of Punjab, who have small problems. The central government will solve them. The Haryana government has done the most for the farmers. Compensation was also given for such crops. Which could not be done this time. Haryana government has promised to purchase 24 crops at MSP. Also, the Supreme Court has praised the government for stubble management, whereas this is not happening in Punjab. All these agitating farmers are from Punjab.”
Haryana and Delhi Police have tightened security regarding the farmers’ movement. Public meetings and processions have been banned, and paramilitary forces have been deployed to maintain law and order. Along with this, arrangements for drones and water cannon have also been made.
