Punjab Police busts two criminal gangs including UK based extortion gang

Chandigarh, November 14 (IANS). Punjab Police on Thursday claimed to have busted two criminal gangs, including a UK-based extortion gang. Police have also arrested 10 dreaded criminals. Seven pistols, 18 cartridges and 10 magazines have been recovered from their possession.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said on Thursday that preliminary investigation has revealed that complex cross-border activities of the syndicate were going on, in which key people of the gang sitting in Britain, Greece and Palestine were directing extortion and firing in Punjab. Are giving. Apart from this, Jalandhar Rural Police has also busted an arms trading network operating from Madhya Pradesh.

“After busting two modules, Punjab Police has successfully detected at least 14 extortion and gunfight cases, dealing a deep blow to foreign-backed crime in the state,” the DGP said in a statement.

Jalandhar Rural Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said the first breakthrough came when a police team led by Station House Officer (SHO) Yadvinder Singh stopped a vehicle near the hi-tech toll plaza at Gidder Pindi and arrested 32 people. Three suspects were arrested after recovering two bore pistols, six rounds and five magazines.

The arrested people have been identified as Amandeep Singh, Jagwinder Singh and Jaskaran Singh. The SSP said that during interrogation, the accused revealed that their operation was being run by Britain-based kingpin Jagdeep Singh alias Jagga. Jagga was receiving financial support from Greece-based Paramjeet Singh alias Pamma, and the gang’s activities were being coordinated by Manila-based Manjinder Singh alias Money.

He said that the gang had recently purchased pistols from Khargone city of Madhya Pradesh on the instructions of their foreign based masters. After this the police team arrested three more members of the gang. They were identified as Ajay Kumar, Vishal and a minor. The team recovered a 32 bore pistol and three cartridges from them.

He said that the gang has been found involved in three major criminal incidents, which include firing on the instructions of Jagdeep alias Jagga to target a businessman of Bholath in Kapurthala district, recovery of weapons and purchasing weapons from Madhya Pradesh.
