Questions on ‘AAP’ also regarding law and order in Delhi: Sandeep Dixit (IANS Interview)

New Delhi, December 3 (IANS). Senior Congress leader and former Lok Sabha MP Sandeep Dixit had a special conversation with IANS on Tuesday. During this, he gave his reaction on the adjournment motion regarding increasing crime in Delhi, Sambal violence in Uttar Pradesh, farmers’ demonstration and Tripura’s Hotel Association’s refusal to give rooms to Bangladeshis.

Regarding the demand for discussion on the adjournment motion of Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MPs Raghav Chadha and Sanjay Singh on the increasing crime in Delhi, the Congress leader said, it is not that crime has increased in Delhi today, it was less yesterday. Congress has been raising this issue again and again. When a heinous crime was committed somewhere, we reached there. But Aam Aadmi Party never talked about raising this issue administratively in the last four-five years. He is in the government, he discusses it in the assembly, asks the police what kind of arrangements they have made.

The Congress leader said, Delhi government had said that CCTV will be installed on every road, what happened to it? There was talk of installing lights on every road and every intersection, but lights are not on at more than half of the intersections. He had said that there would be no problem in the buses after the arrival of Marshal. But the marshals were removed and the responsibility was placed on the Lieutenant Governor. In such a situation, questions arise for you regarding the law and order situation of Delhi.

Regarding the violence that broke out in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh, the opposition and especially the Congress want a discussion on it in the House. Regarding this, Sandeep Dixit said, there should be discussion. When in 1991 there was talk of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi and Babri Masjid. At that time everyone was of the opinion that except this, all other places should be kept as they were. But there is no end to the discussion on why DY Chandrachud made changes at the end of his tenure. There will be frenzy across the country regarding this.

The Congress leader said that there is a possibility of social hysteria, riots and riots at various places and Hindu-Muslim conflicts may increase further. BJP has always benefited in this. That is why the Indian government is turning a blind eye to this and is promoting it.

Regarding the farmers’ protest, he said that three-four years ago there was a huge agitation by the farmers. At that time there was a discussion between BJP and farmer leaders. During that time it was repeatedly said that all the issues of the farmers would be resolved. But nothing happened for the farmers in three-four years. Farmers had come on the streets regarding three black laws, which the Modi government withdrew and handled the situation. But the government did not do any work on the positive things that were to be done further. It has become clear that the government is not standing in the interest of farmers, laborers or the poor.

On Tripura’s Hotel Association refusing to give hotel rooms to Bangladeshis, the Congress leader said that what is happening in Bangladesh is very worrying. Don’t know what the Indian government is doing? We feel that we have not made an impact in Bangladesh the way we could have. The Indian government should talk to Bangladesh in a strict manner on this issue. As far as not providing hotels to Bangladeshis in Tripura is concerned, that is a local issue, but why should we do this against the people of any country?
