Ragging in Barmer Government Medical College, 8 students suspended

Barmer : Action has been taken against 14 medical students in separate cases of ragging in Barmer Government Medical College. 8 students were suspended from the hostel. Six girl students were given warning letters for committing a mistake. On Monday, the sides of all the victims and the accused were heard in the anti-ragging committee meeting of the college. After this, the decision was taken unanimously after discussion with the committee members. Co-Chairman of Anti Ragging Committee and District Hospital Superintendent, Dr. BL Mansooriya said – The complaint was received on WhatsApp.

In the ragging committee meeting on Monday, the children were interrogated one by one. After this, 8 students of the hostel have been expelled from the college. In which 6 students have been expelled from the hostel for 15 days and 2 students for 2 months. All 6 girl students have been given warning letters in the ragging case. Complaint received for the first time PMO Mansooriya said that a complaint was made on social media by the first year students who have just taken admission. Those accused are second year students. No such complaint has been received before. Mansooriya says that till now the students are not able to tell about the ragging done by them. The committee is taking statements again today.

Ragging with juniors and freshers
The college management was continuously receiving complaints of ragging by senior students with juniors and freshers. But no concrete clues were found nor any name was emerging. The victim students were also hesitant in revealing their names. Meanwhile, after some of the aggrieved students disclosed the names of the ragging students in the social media group of the committee members, a meeting was called and a decision was taken about the action.
