Rahul Narvekar filed nomination for the post of Assembly Speaker

Mumbai, December 8 (IANS). Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar on Sunday filed nomination for the post of Assembly Speaker in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule.

The election of Maharashtra Assembly Speaker will be held on December 9 (Monday).

At the same time, the nomination process has started from December 8 (Sunday).

However, considering the numerical strength of Mahayuti in the Assembly, it is believed that this time the Assembly Speaker election will be held unopposed.

Rahul Narvekar said that whatever responsibility will be given to me by the party. I assure that I will discharge it faithfully.

He said that whatever decisions will be taken by the party regarding the post of Assembly Speaker, I will gladly accept them.

He said that the party had expressed confidence in me and given me many opportunities and this time too, whatever opportunity is given to me, I assure that I will work accordingly.

Let us tell you that Rahul Narvekar has been elected MLA from Colaba seat of Maharashtra. He took the oath of office in the Assembly on Saturday. He was also elected Assembly Speaker during the two and a half year long government of Mahayuti.

Rahul Narvekar wins in Colaba by a huge margin. He got 81,085 votes compared to 32,504 votes of Congress’ Heera Navji Dewasi, while in 2019 he had defeated senior Congress leader Bhai Jagtap. Narvekar got 57,420 votes and Bhai Jagtap got 41,225 votes.

Rahul Narvekar started his political innings with Shiv Sena. After this he left Shiv Sena and joined NCP in 2014. He was elected assembly councilor in June 2016. He was nominated by the Governor.

After this, in 2019 he joined the membership of BJP.

At the same time, after the formation of Mahayuti government in 2022, BJP had also made him the Speaker of the Assembly.
