New Delhi, December 1 (IANS). Indian Railways is making extensive efforts to increase the facilities for passengers. This includes a wide range of new comfortable linen sheets, good quality clean blankets and food, among other things for the passengers. Now Railways has started the UV sanitization process after every trip.
Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, told IANS, “The linen used in the Railways is cleaned after every use. The cleaning of linen is done exclusively in mechanical laundries, which are completely monitored. In which CCTV cameras are installed and the entire process is monitored. Apart from this, surprise inspection is also done by the officers and supervisors only after checking the whiteness of the meter. Lenin is given further passengers.”
He further said, “New standards are being implemented by Northern Railway for quality improvement. Currently this improvement is being implemented on pilot basis in special and prestigious trains like Rajdhani, Tejas. These new type of trains will be of better quality. Their sizes are larger and the fabric is also better, due to which passengers can feel better and be more satisfied. Before 2010, the cleaning protocol was to clean it once every two or three months. was cleaned, but Now this process is being done twice a month. Where there are logistics problems, it is cleaned at least once a month. In addition, Northern Railways uses naphthalene vapor hot air crystallization. Which is a very effective and time-tested method. This process provides a better cleanliness and convenience to the passengers.”
He said, “Now, UV sanitization has been started as a pilot project, in which blankets will now be sanitized with UV rays on every round trip. This is a very advanced and modern technology, which is widely used nowadays. This process is being implemented as a pilot project in two Rajdhani trains, Jammu Rajdhani and Dibrugarh Rajdhani. Based on the experiences gained from this experiment, it will be implemented in other trains also in future.
