The historic victory of Nitesh ji, a resident of Vidyadhar Nagar, has made the entire country proud. Hearty congratulations for this unforgettable achievement and infinite best wishes for your bright future.’

‘Bhagat’s absence an ‘additional responsibility’

India’s badminton men’s singles gold medallist Nitesh Kumar on September 4 said Pramod Bhagat’s absence at the Paris Paralympics gave him an “added responsibility” to win the title. His mantra was to focus on one match at a time at the Paralympics after Bhagat was suspended for 18 months ahead of the Para Games. “Going there as the world number one, the top seed, it was a responsibility for me to win the title. Entering the final, I knew it would be mentally tough for both of us. I was confident of getting the better of him and giving my best,” Nitesh said.
