Jaipur : Local body elections are going to be held in Rajasthan in August this year. In such a situation, this time the government can conduct all the body and gram panchayat elections together. In her budget speech, Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari had announced to conduct ‘One State – One Election’. However, this is possible only after making a law. In such a situation, the government can call a special session in the month of August for this. According to the news, the government can conduct local body and gram panchayat elections simultaneously in the state in the months of August and September this year. UDH Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra said that due to repeated imposition of code of conduct, the work of the government gets affected and the government treasury is burdened.
“One state-one election” was announced in the budget
If the law of ‘One State One Election’ is made in Rajasthan, then Rajasthan will be the first state in the country to do so. The Bharatiya Janata Party had included the concept of ‘One Country-One Election’ in its manifesto in the Lok Sabha elections. Rajasthan has 11 municipal corporations, 33 municipal councils and 169 municipal boards, 213 urban local bodies (ULBs). It is reported that the government is preparing a draft of the bill by officials and experts to deal with the legal and technical complexities. Apart from this, elections will be held simultaneously for the posts of 11,320 Sarpanchs, 1,09,228 Panchs, 6995 Panchayat Samiti members, 1014 District Panchayat members and 7500 councilors.
Congress’s allegation- this is BJP’s political agenda
On the question of ‘One State One Election’, Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasara said that this is their political agenda. Panchayat and Nagar Nigam elections should not be held. Recently, Nagar Palika, Nagar Nigam and Panchayat elections were to be held. In that, the Chief Minister did not conduct the election of the District Head in his own district. They always play with democracy. BJP also has this old habit. We will oppose these wrong policies by taking the public along.
