Jaipur : The tenure of the elected representatives of 49 urban bodies including five municipal corporations in Rajasthan is going to be completed next week. Meanwhile, the state government is claiming to be ready to fulfill the announcement of One State, One Election, while the State Election Commission has started preparations for the elections by giving directions to the District Election Officers (DEOs). The State Election Commission has given instructions to prepare the voter list, identify polling stations and appoint employees for election work as per the current situation. The government is yet to take a decision on the new districts, but the State Election Commission has already recognized the new districts for electoral purposes.

About two months ago, Minister of State for Urban Development Jhabar Singh Kharra had said that elections will not be held in the year 2024 in the places where the tenure of the local bodies is ending. In the year 2025, civic elections will be held simultaneously in the entire state.
