Ranjit Ranjan welcomes Supreme Court’s decision against bulldozer action

New Delhi, November 14 (IANS). The Supreme Court on Wednesday, while hearing the petitions filed against the bulldozer action, declared it unconstitutional. This decision is under discussion in political and social circles. Congress Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Ranjit Ranjan has called it a positive step.

Ranjit Ranjan said that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party have always been against the bulldozer culture because it is against the Constitution and law. He said that this decision of the Supreme Court is the solution to the wider problem in which bulldozers were being used to create political vendetta and fear.

He said that this was injustice to the people and it was a violation of their fundamental rights. It was very sad that this bulldozer campaign in many states, starting from Uttar Pradesh, had become a part of the political agenda, whose only objective was to scare and intimidate the people. The Constitution and the common people were being flouted by such steps.

Ranjit Ranjan said that the Supreme Court has said that this action should be within the ambit of law and if any officer does such actions then he should be punished. He said, “We are also saying that the officers who gave the orders should also be punished.”

Taking aim at the BJP and its Chief Ministers, he said that all this was being done for political gains and the BJP and its Chief Ministers consider themselves above the Constitution and law of the country. Today the Supreme Court has shown his real face. The Supreme Court has given the message that “any kind of hooliganism and unconstitutional action” will not be tolerated in a democracy.

It is noteworthy that the Supreme Court termed the bulldozer action as unconstitutional and illegal and said that home is everyone’s dream and that dream should not be broken. The right to housing is a fundamental right of everyone. Notice should be given before bulldozer action. Only after this further action should be taken. The court said that no action should be taken within 15 days of the notice. Meanwhile, the party concerned should be given adequate opportunity to present his case. The court said that if bulldozer action is taken without completing the prescribed procedure, then damages will also be recovered from the concerned authorities.
