Rajasthan : The rainy season has started once again in Rajasthan. Heavy rain was witnessed in many districts on Tuesday. At the same time, it has been raining in many districts since yesterday i.e. Monday. Due to the continuous torrential rain, 10 dams of South Rajasthan overflowed. On the other hand, four gates were opened at 4 pm on Tuesday due to the rising water level in Mahi Dam of Banswara. At the same time, after the overflow of Som Kamala Amba Dam of Dungarpur, two gates were opened by half a meter each.
This time the rain broke the record
Due to continuous heavy rains, the record of rain in Rajasthan was broken this time. 552.2 mm of rain was recorded in Rajasthan from 01 June to 29 August, whereas the normal rainfall during this period is 364.5 mm. Between 01 June and 29 August, eastern Rajasthan has received the highest rainfall of 721.1 mm. Whereas, 417.8 mm of rain was recorded in western Rajasthan. According to the Meteorological Department, Rajasthan has recorded 51 percent more rain than the average during the last 3 months.
Yellow alert issued for many districts
Heavy rains occurred in many districts of Rajasthan on Tuesday as well. Due to the rain in Udaipur since morning, water started flowing in the ponds nearby, due to which water started flowing from the ponds. In Didwana, the main squares and roads got submerged due to rain today. Apart from this, heavy rains occurred in Sikar, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur. According to the Meteorological Department, 115 mm of rain has been recorded in Bhungra (Banswara) of eastern Rajasthan during the last 24 hours. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for many districts of Rajasthan for September 7. The trough line is currently passing through Jaisalmer, Udaipur. In such a situation, there is a possibility of heavy rain at some places in the southern and eastern districts for the next 4 to 5 days.
Many dams in the state overflowed
Due to heavy rains in the state, more than 10 dams in southern Rajasthan overflowed. After overflowing on Tuesday, four gates of Mahi Dam, the largest dam in Banswara division, were opened at 4 pm. When the water level in the dam was 280.30 meters against the total water level of 281.50 meters on Tuesday, 2500 cusecs of additional water was drained by opening four gates at 4 pm. Apart from this, the largest Som Kamala Amba Dam of Dungarpur district also overflowed due to continuous inflow of water. After this, two gates were opened half a meter each to maintain the water level in the dam. 7 thousand 970 cusecs of water is being drained from both the gates.
