Regarding the death of Jodhpur contract worker, Vishnoi community demanded compensation of Rs 20 lakh and job to his wife.

Jodhpur : Vishnoi community and contract workers protested demanding compensation after the death due to electrocution of a contract worker working as a lifter at Jodhpur Salawas power plant on Tuesday. Slogans were raised outside the mortuary of MDM Hospital and the Discom MD office located at New Power House. Then in the talks held with the Discom officials and the representatives of the contract firm Bhanwariya Construction, the post-mortem was conducted and it was agreed to take action against the guilty officer along with assistance of Rs 20 lakh to the family of the deceased and a job on contract. The work of removing electrical faults has been taken on contract. Subhash Vishnoi, son of Satanram, a contract worker resident of Joliali, who worked as a lifter in this firm, was working in Salawas power house on Tuesday. During this time, the transformer which was being tested for current at the spot. Subhash’s hand touched it.

The staff immediately brought him to a private hospital, but doctors declared him dead. Later the body was kept in the MDM Hospital mortuary and till late night the people of Vishnoi community held talks under the leadership of former MP Jaswantsingh Vishnoi and Vikram Vishnoi. Villagers told that Subhash Vishnoi has two daughters, Niharika (7 years) and Riyanshi (8 months). At the same time, he is also responsible for taking care of the elderly parents. Apart from this, due to the death of his elder brother four years ago during the Covid period, all the responsibilities of the family depended on Subhash. After Subhash’s death, there is no one to earn money in the house. Vishnoi community warned that if their demands were not met, they would launch a major agitation with the labor organization.

During this, many people including District President of Rajasthan Electricity Contract Employees Federation Dinesh Siyag, Binjaram, Shaitanram, Bhagirath Beniwal, Pusaram Beniwal, Shravan Beniwal, Rampratap Fauji, Banshilal, Kishnaram Vishnoi, Sunil and Ashok were present. People of the society gathered at MDM Hospital Mortuary, from where everyone decided to surround the Discom MD office. After this, under the leadership of Deputy District Head Vikram Bishnoi, All India Vishnoi Mahasabha President Devendra Budiya, Joliali Sarpanch representative Pancharam Vishnoi, People of the society sat on strike outside the Discom MD office. Discom MD talked to people on telephone and assured cooperation. Bhanwariya Construction assured to provide assistance.
