Ranchi, 23 November (IANS). The Election Commission has declared the election results of all 81 seats of Jharkhand Assembly. The alliance of four parties led by Hemant Soren has won a total of 56 seats.
For the first time in the 24-year history of the state, a coalition is going to form the government with two-thirds majority. Hemant Soren is sure to be elected as the leader of the alliance again and he will be the first leader to take oath as CM for the fourth time in the state.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, which leads the ruling alliance, has registered its best performance so far by winning 34 seats. It had won 30 seats in the 2019 elections. Congress also maintained its 2019 performance by winning 16 seats. Rashtriya Janata Dal has won 4 seats and CPI ML has won 2 seats.
On the other hand, Bharatiya Janata Party has suffered a big setback. Its candidates have won 21 seats. It had got 25 seats in the last elections. Among other NDA partners, AJSU Party, JDU and LGP (R) have won one seat each.
A new party called Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha, which contested the elections alone, has won one seat. President of this party Jairam Kumar Mahato has defeated Hemant Soren government minister Baby Devi from Dumri seat of Giridih district.
This time too, Bharatiya Janata Party has suffered a massive defeat on the seats reserved for Scheduled Tribes i.e. tribals. Out of total 28 such seats, only one Seraikela seat has gone to BJP, where former CM Champai Soren has won.
Four ministers of Hemant Soren government have lost the elections. In Jamshedpur West seat, Congress quota minister Banna Gupta has been defeated by JDU’s Saryu Rai. JMM quota minister Mithilesh Kumar Thakur has been defeated by BJP’s Satyendra Nath Tiwari on Garhwa seat. In Dumri seat, JMM quota minister Baby Devi has been defeated by JLKM’s Jairam Kumar Mahato, while in Latehar seat, JMM quota minister Baidyanath Ram has been defeated by BJP’s Prakash Ram.
Talking about other high profile seats, Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren has won from Gandey seat and her younger brother Basant Soren has won from Dumka seat. Assembly Leader of Opposition in Chandankiyari seat Amar Kumar Bauri, BJP’s candidate, not only lost the election but also came third. JMM’s Umakant Rajak has won here.
Champai Soren, the only leader among the leaders who left JMM-Congress and joined BJP, was successful in saving his seat, while Sita Soren, Geeta Koda and Lobin Hembram lost the election. Champai Soren’s son Babulal Soren also lost the election on Ghatshila seat and former CM Arjun Munda’s wife Meera Munda lost the election on Potka seat. Purnima Sahu, daughter-in-law of former CM and Odisha Governor Raghuvar Das, has won the Jamshedpur East seat. He has defeated Congress national spokesperson Dr. Ajay Kumar here.
