Jaipur : The Supreme Court rejected the state government’s argument of considering allopathy and Ayurveda doctors separately in terms of length of service. The court again approved the decision of Rajasthan High Court of July 13, 2022 to increase the retirement age of Ayurveda doctors from 60 to 62 years.
A division bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy and Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra refused to reconsider its January 30, 2024 decision of increasing the retirement age of Ayurveda doctors to 62 years. The court rejected the review petition of the state government in this case.
The state government said in the review petition that the scope of work of allopathy and Ayurveda doctors is different. Keeping in mind the need of allopathy doctors, increasing their retirement age by two years was a policy decision of the state government. In such a situation, the High Court’s decision to increase the retirement age of Ayurveda doctors to 62 years like that of Allopathy doctors should be cancelled.
In response to this, Ayurveda doctors said that the Supreme Court had approved increasing the retirement age of Ayurveda doctors to 62 years in the case of NDMC vs. Dr. Ramnaresh, hence the decision of Rajasthan High Court to increase the retirement age of Ayurveda doctors from 60 to 62 years is correct. .
