Bikaner : Bikaner Municipal Corporation will now take the help of technology to improve the door-to-door garbage collection system. For this, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology tags will be installed near the doors of two to two and a half lakh houses in the city. These chips have started being installed in Ward 12. This sector has been taken as a pilot project. If successful, these chips will be installed in every house in the city. It has also been started in Sector 5 of Vyas Colony in Bikaner. Through this, complete monitoring including the routes of vehicles engaged in door-to-door garbage collection can be done.
There are 80 wards in Bikaner city. Despite this, garbage is still not being collected from every house. Now the chip installed on the houses will be able to know whether the garbage of each house is collected or not. Many problems of the corporation will be solved through this technology. In this, has the vehicle gone for waste collection or not? If he went, which area, locality or street did he reach? How many days are there in a month? This will be known.
With the new technology the corporation will only have to do monitoring. This will not only improve the door-to-door waste collection system of the corporation but will also provide relief to the common people. They will not need to call again and again to call a vehicle. The corporation will install RFID technology, which is a sensor-enabled system, at the mouth and end of the street in the selected wards. These will be installed on 10 to 15 percent of the houses in the selected wards. The sensor will detect the vehicle as soon as it approaches. That information will reach the corporation office.
RFID technology first used in Haryana We generally use RFID technology when we go to retail stores for shopping. Payment through debit, credit card or Fastag is done through this technology. Now it is being used for door-to-door waste collection. A year ago, the municipal corporation in Gurugram, Haryana installed RFID tags outside 1,75,000 houses. Indore and Jabalpur were among the first to adopt this method. This technology is also being used in Jaipur and Jodhpur cities of Rajasthan.
This is how technology will work
RFID is a kind of chip. Which will be installed outside every house. This chip will be controlled from the command control room. It will be installed on house, shop, school, college or any establishment. In the morning, when the tippers go to collect garbage, the chip installed at that house will show green color in the command control. After picking up the garbage, the tipper employee will scan the chip installed in front of the house with the machine kept with him.
As soon as the scan is done, the location of that house will turn yellow in the command control. Apart from this, a message will come on the registered mobile number of the home owner. At present chips are being installed in Ward 12. After the chip is installed in every house of the entire ward, command and control will start on it and then the picture will be clear as to how effective it is. If the project is successful, every house will be tagged. Now a pilot project has been taken. Ward 12 has been added to it. RFID chips are being installed in every house of this ward. If the experiment is successful, this project will be implemented in the entire city. This was included in the conditions of the tipper contractor and everything will be controlled from the command control room.
