New Delhi, November 23 (IANS). Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. The 1984 Delhi riot victims, who received appointment letters from Saxena, praised the Modi government on Friday and said that now they see the future of their children secure.
The Lieutenant Governor on Thursday visited the colony built in Tilak Vihar for the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and gave appointment letters to about 50 people.
Deepak Sethi, who got the job, said that this has brought a lot of relief. He said, “The future of our children seems secure. The previous governments had stopped our work. We have been demanding jobs since 2006. Yesterday 50 people received appointment letters.”
Harvinder Singh, who received the appointment letter, said that the file was given in 2006 itself, only now the work has been done. He said, “There is a lot of relief. Now the future of the children is good.”
Atma Singh Lubhana, vice president of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, who has made an important contribution in the fight for jobs for the riot victims, said that about 500-600 more people are expected to get jobs, whose files are still pending. The Lieutenant Governor has ordered the Divisional Commissioner and the Chief Secretary to set up a camp here next week and verify their files. Those who are left behind will also get jobs very soon.
He said that in 2006, the then government had shortlisted the names of 72 people for jobs, but “cleverly” did not give jobs to anyone. Some were screened out on the basis of being illiterate and others on the basis of old age. The Lieutenant Governor has removed all the conditions.
Regarding the changes that came after the formation of Modi government, he said that 1984 riots accused Sajjan Kumar was sent to jail and charge sheet has been filed against Jagdish Tytler. He appealed to the Central Government and BJP National President J.P. to provide jobs to the riot victims. Thanked Nadda, State President Virendra Sachdeva and others.
