Udaipur : The work worth crores being done by the Water Supply Department in Udaipur city has still not materialized. Due to which people are facing problems. The residents of the city told that the work which was supposed to be completed in the month of March itself, could not be completed even after 8 months. Neither did the department give notice to the contractor regarding this, nor did the officials keep an eye on the slow pace of the work. For the last 5 days, the main road from Kanod to Udaipur was closed to connect the pipeline to the big tank. Which has not been opened yet. Pedestrians including the driver are forced to pass through the single road. In such a situation, there is a fear of a major accident happening at any time. But the responsible officers of the department remain careless. The residents of the city say that if the tank had been constructed away from the road as per the rules, the main road would not have had to be closed. But the department did not pay any attention. When Assistant Engineer Parsaram Meena was contacted for a reply in this regard, he did not receive the call.
Nearly 1 lakh liters of water was wasted
On one hand, people in the city are not getting adequate drinking water. On the other hand, on Friday, the employees of the department poured lakhs of liters of water into the drain. To check the one lakh liter water tank built at the court intersection of the city, such work was said to be done by the department contractor. Villagers say that if the department had wanted, the tank could have been cleaned by laborers and checked during supply, but by not doing so, the water source filled the tank and drained about one lakh liters of water into the sewerage drain on Friday morning. The local people have demanded from the higher officials to complete the work soon.
Broken roads, pedestrians are stumbling
The condition of the roads dug by the department in the last months to lay the pipeline is very bad. Due to which the pedestrians are forced to stumble. Local people say that despite instructions from the authorities, the departmental officers did not come to the city even once to take stock of the condition of these roads. Recently, in the meeting held in the municipality, the residents of the city had put forth the demand for improvement in front of the SDM regarding the problem of these bad roads. But no action has been taken yet. Due to which the condition of the roads remains the same.
