Road maintenance campaign will be run in Rajasthan from 1 September to 25 October

Jaipur : The Public Works Department will run a road maintenance campaign from September 1 to October 25 to repair the roads damaged by rain in the state. Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Department Minister Diya Kumari has instructed the officials to take full care of the quality of the work during the campaign and get the work completed within the stipulated time.

Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari said that during the campaign, along with road repair works, the work of improving black spots will be done on priority to reduce accidents. She has said that strict action will be taken against those who do not follow the prescribed standards in road construction and repair works. Where roads have been damaged during the rains, traffic will be restored immediately. In areas where roads have been damaged due to heavy rains and floods, proposals will be made to repair them from the Disaster Relief Fund and sent to the District Collector.

The initial condition inspection of potholes and patches of roads will be done by JE and AEN. For patch repair, the concerned official engineer will make rate contracts for the subdivision or specified area by August 30. The patch repair work will start from September 1, which must be completed by October 25 at any cost. The contractors will have to get digital photographs and videography of the road done before starting the work and after completion of the work. It is mandatory for the contractor to get the patch marked and numbered before patching. Notices have been issued from August 1 to the contractors who have not maintained the roads within the guarantee period,
Whose work has to be started from 1st September and completed by 5th October. During this time if the original contractor does not give a proper reply to the notice then the said work will be done by some other agency at the rate of the original contract. The roads of the guarantee period have to be repaired with the same quality and material which was used during construction. The Executive Engineer can give permission for screw repair with cold drink material.

Repair of deep potholes will have to be done only by wbm/wmm. During this campaign, road safety works like painting on kilometer stones, road signage, speed breaker marking etc. will also be done. Apart from this, cleaning of roadside trees, whitewash, painting on trees etc. will be done through labour at the department level. The quality of patches will be inspected by the concerned superintending engineer and additional chief engineer during spot inspection.
