New Delhi, November 19 (IANS). Outgoing Rohan Jaitley filed his nomination for the post of President of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday.
The DDCA will conduct elections for all members of the apex council, including five office-bearers and seven directors, from December 13 to 15. The election decision will come on 16 December.
Jaitley, who won the top post by defeating Vikas Singh in the last elections, is confident of getting a second term in the association.
“Many steps have also been taken at the level of cricket activities and good infrastructure, player development and involving members in different activities, this is something that we have done,” Rohan told IANS. I have been working on this with full sincerity for the last three years.”
He explained in detail about the schemes launched during his tenure. Rohan said, “Last time our agenda was very clear on many different subjects including pensions, infrastructure, insurance and facilities etc. We have delivered almost 90 per cent of what we promised. With the Delhi Premier League we have delivered the Under-16 And also gave opportunity to 19. We have senior and club level cricket leagues in which around 1500 matches are being played. We started health insurance for the players and we ensured that the last World Cup. Before the stadium infrastructure is improved, it is hoped that the members will support me and my team this time also.
“It’s always good when you get support for your work. We are making sure everything is tailored to the players’ needs and how to improve the teams’ performance across the board. Change takes time and “We are seeing results.”
On former cricketers’ support for the pension scheme, he said, “Sooner or later we will see big results.”
Jaitley extended his warm wishes to cricketer-turned-politician Kirti Azad, who is also contesting for the post of DDCA president. Kirti Azad filed her nomination on Monday.
