Rohingya refugees say, ‘We came here to save our lives’

Jammu, December 11 (IANS). The team of United Nations Refugee Rights Agency (UNHCR) has reached Jammu and Kashmir. The team’s visit came at a time when a campaign is being conducted by security agencies and intelligence agencies in the state against Rohingya refugees living illegally.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has given a big statement on the presence of Rohingya in the state. He says that the Center should decide what to do with the Rohingya. We cannot leave Rohingya refugees to God’s mercy.

Speaking to IANS, Rohingya refugee Dil Mohammad said in response to a question, “We are not educated people. We have come here to save our lives. The government that cuts off water and electricity is the same government that provides water and electricity.” We did not want to cause trouble to anyone when we were settled here. We are ready to return to our country and urge the government to take a decision in this matter. .

Another Rohingya refugee Mohammad Amin thanked the Chief Minister for providing water and electricity. He said, “We have not come here to create trouble, but to escape persecution. We have not come here to stay permanently. We are ready to go back as soon as the situation in our country becomes normal. “

It is noteworthy that Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said that if he can send back Rohingya refugees then he should send them back. If this is not possible then they cannot be left to die of hunger and cold. We cannot leave Rohingya refugees to God’s mercy.
