Rohit Sharma will join the team on the third day of Perth Test: Report

New Delhi, November 21 (IANS). Indian captain Rohit Sharma is going to join his team in Australia soon. He can reach Perth on 24th November where the first Test is starting from 22nd November. In the absence of Rohit, the command of the team will be in the hands of fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah in this match.

The Indian team left for Australia in three batches between November 9 and 11, but Rohit decided to take a short break to spend time with his family. Rohit, who was ruled out of the Perth Test, will be available for the entire series from the second Test to be held at the Adelaide Oval from December 6.

Vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah will lead the Indian team in the Perth Test. The command of Australia will be in the hands of Pat Cummins. It will be a historic moment as the two bowlers will lead their respective sides in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.

Meanwhile, to prepare for the Adelaide Test, Rohit will take part in a two-day day-night practice match between India A team and Primeminster XI.

According to Cricbuzz report, this match to be held at Manuka Oval, Canberra on November 30 and December 1 will give Rohit an opportunity to adapt to the Australian conditions and gain match fitness.

The delay in Rohit’s trip to Australia had remained a subject of speculation in the cricket world. The team is already facing challenges due to injuries and absences, including Shubman Gill’s thumb injury and Jasprit Bumrah’s role as stand-in captain.

Both teams have a lot to prove. The pressure is more on Australia because it is playing at home. For the last decade it has failed to defeat India at home. On the other hand, after the clean sweep against New Zealand at home, Team India will also take the field with the intention of making a comeback.

The Perth pitch has been helpful to fast bowlers. The pitch here is famous for the high speed and bounce of the ball. Later, gradually the spin bowlers also get some help from the pitch. In such a situation, the batsmen may have to struggle a lot on this pitch.
