Jodhpur : Jodhpur Railway has started the construction work of a new platform at Jodhpur Railway Station to increase passenger facilities. The new platform number 6, to be built in a year at a cost of about Rs 32 crore, will be equipped with lift, escalator, food court and other modern passenger facilities. Jodhpur DRM Pankaj Kumar Singh of North Western Railway said that passenger trains will be operated at Jodhpur City Railway Station. And in view of the ever increasing traffic of goods trains, the need for construction of additional platforms was being felt for a long time and a proposal for this was made to the Railway Ministry. He said that to ease the movement of trains at the city railway station, the work on the construction of a new platform has been started as soon as the approval has been received. DRM said that with the construction of platform number 6 through the Gati Shakti Unit of the Railways, work has already been done. The length of the constructed platforms 4 and 5 will also be 580 meters and width will be 10 meters as per the prescribed standards, which will make it easier for the passengers to board and deboard the coaches.
At present, the width of platforms 4 and 5 at both ends is very less, which causes a lot of inconvenience to the passengers during the arrival of trains. Now, with the completion of the width, not only will this problem be solved, but shelters will also be installed on the platforms to protect them from sunlight and rain. On Tuesday, Chief Project Manager (Gati Shakti Unit) Ashok Kumar Dhakad took stock of the construction work of platform number 6 of the railway station.
New platforms will be of full length
A new platform being built at Jodhpur City Railway Station will be of full capacity and length, for which extensive yard remodeling is being done. The land of the nearby railway workshop is being used for new construction and remodelling of the electrified yard. For this, suitable space for the new platform is being created by demolishing the walls of railway quarters and bungalows.
The location of IOC pipeline and electrical substation will change.
For the above ambitious work, the electrical substation located near the workshop and the diesel pipeline of Indian Oil Corporation will be shifted elsewhere so that adequate space can be available.
the path will be easy
Jodhpur is a big station of North Western Railway zone and the number of passengers and trains has been continuously increasing. There was a dire need for the construction of a new platform to deal with the problem of increasing traffic pressure. Senior DCM Vikas Kheda says that the construction of the new platform will expand passenger facilities and trains will be diverted to nearby stations due to lack of space at the main railway station. But this will relieve them to a great extent from the problem of being late. Apart from this, the recent changes made in the terminal stations of many trains will also reduce the traffic pressure at the city railway station and make timely and smooth operation of trains.
