Russia carried out biggest drone attack since conflict began: Ukraine

Kyiv, 26 November (IANS). Russia fired 188 combat drones on Ukraine overnight. This is Russia’s biggest drone attack since the conflict between the two countries began. The Ukrainian Air Force said this on Tuesday.

Apart from the drones, Russia also fired four Iskander-M ballistic missiles, the Air Force said in a statement.

The statement also said that Ukrainian air defense systems shot down 76 drones in 17 areas, while contact with 96 others was lost. Five drones reportedly crossed Ukraine’s border with Belarus, the statement said.

The Air Force said critical infrastructure and private residences were damaged in the attack.

Xinhua news agency quoted the regional military administration as saying that the attack damaged a vital infrastructure in the western Ternopil region. This resulted in power outages in the city of Ternopil and surrounding settlements.

Shostka mayor Mykola Noah wrote on Facebook that in the northeastern Sumy region, infrastructure in the Shostka community was attacked by “a significant number” of drones.

Regional governor Ruslan Kravchenko said debris from the drone intercepted in the Kiev region damaged six buildings.

So far there is no news of any casualty in the attack.
