Russian University shows interest in partnership with Jamia

New Delhi, November 12 (IANS). Six-member academicians from the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation reached Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi on Tuesday. The Financial University has expressed interest in partnering with Jamia Millia Islamia.

It is noteworthy that India is encouraging foreign higher educational institutions to set up their campuses in the country. In such a situation, this Jamia visit of Russia’s Financial University is being considered very important.

The Russian delegation met Jamia Vice Chancellor Prof. Met Mazhar Asif in the Vice Chancellor’s office. During this, extensive discussions were held regarding cooperation between Jamia and Russian universities. This Russian delegation was led by Russian Professor (Dr.) Stanislav Prokofiev. Apart from him, the delegation included the Rector, Honored Economist of the Russian Federation, Second Class Full Counselor of the Russian Federation and Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation.

According to Jamia University, this distinguished delegation from Russia has expressed its keen interest in establishing a partnership with Jamia Millia Islamia of India.

Jamia Millia Islamia is the third leading university of the country in the national ranking of universities. The Russian university has expressed its desire to establish a partnership with Jamia Millia Islamia, as one of the primary objectives of their financial university’s internationalization strategy.

According to the Jamia University administration, the purpose of the Russian delegation’s visit was to lay the foundation for possible cooperation initiatives. Which can be implemented together in the coming time.

Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia Prof. Mazhar Asif says that it is an honor for him to welcome this international delegation. The Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia expressed hope that the fruitful discussions held by both sides will lead to active cooperation in future.

During the discussion, the Russian delegation was met by Jamia’s Prof. Mukesh Ranjan along with Professor Rashmi Duraiswami, MMAJ Academy of International Studies, gave a detailed account of the establishment of Jamia Millia Islamia, its rich historical background and its current prestigious status. After his presentation, a film highlighting the achievements of the university was also shown to the Russian delegates.
