Rajasthan is a state where many secrets and stories related to history are hidden in every city which makes it special. This state, which was special for kings and emperors, used to scare people due to many reasons. It is here that the most fearsome fort of India is located, which is called Bhangarh Fort. But not only Bhangarh, there is a haunted village here, where people are afraid to go even during the day, let alone at night. The story of this village is quite shocking. The name of this village is Kuldhara
There is a strange mystery regarding the desolation of Kuldhara village. Actually, the story of Kuldhara started about 200 years ago, when Kuldhara was not a ruin but 84 surrounding villages were settled by Paliwal Brahmins. But then Kuldhara fell under someone’s evil eye, that person was Salam Singh, the Diwan of the state. Ayyash Diwan Salam Singh’s evil eye fell on a beautiful girl of the village. Dewan was so crazy about that girl that he just wanted to have her by any means. For this he started putting pressure on the Brahmins. The limit was reached when the Diwan sent a message to the girl’s house that if he did not find the girl by the next full moon, he would attack the village and take the girl away.
This fight between the Diwan and the villagers was now not only about the honor of a virgin girl but also about the self-respect of the village. A meeting of Paliwal Brahmins was held at the village Chaupal and more than 5000 families decided to leave the princely state for their honour. It is said that all the 84 villagers gathered in a temple to take the decision and the Panchayats decided that no matter what happens, they would not give their girls to that Diwan. Next evening, Kuldhara was so deserted that even birds did not enter the village limits. It is said that those Brahmins cursed this place while leaving the village. Let us tell you that with the changing times, 82 villages were rebuilt, but two villages, Kuldhara and Khabha, have not been inhabited till date despite all efforts. The village is now under the protection of the Archaeological Department of India and is opened to tourists every day during daylight hours.
It is said that this village is inhabited by spiritual powers. According to those who visit Kuldhara village, which has become a tourist destination, the voice of the Paliwal Brahmins living here can be heard even today. They always feel like someone is roaming there. There are always sounds of the market, the chirping of women and the sound of their bangles and anklets. The administration has built a gate on the border of this village, due to which tourists keep coming to visit during the day, but no one dares to cross this gate during the night.
There is a temple in Kuldhara village which is free from the curse even today. There is also a stepwell here which was a source of drinking water at that time. There are also some stairs leading down to a quiet corridor, where it is said that some noises are often heard after dusk. People believe that that voice is the pain of the 18th century, which the Paliwal Brahmins went through. There are some houses in the village where mysterious shadows are often seen. In broad daylight, everything seems like a tale of history, but as evening falls, the doors of Kuldhara close and a mysterious world of spiritual powers is revealed. People say that whoever came here at night became a victim of an accident.
In May 2013, a team of Paranormal Society from Delhi, doing research on ghosts, spent the night in Kuldhara village. The team believed that something unusual would definitely happen here. In the evening, his drone camera was taking pictures of the village from the sky, but as soon as it came over that stepwell, the camera dived in the air and fell on the ground. As if there was someone who did not approve of that camera. It is true that thousands of families migrated from Kuldhara, it is also true that even today a glimpse of Rajasthani culture is visible in Kuldhara.
Vice President of Paranormal Society, Anshul Sharma had told that we have a device named Ghost Box. Through this we ask questions to the spirits living in such places. The same was done in Kuldhara, where some voices were heard and in some cases the spirits also revealed their names. The team that went to Kuldhara on the night of 4 May 2013 (Saturday) found handprints of children on the vehicles. When the team members returned after visiting Kuldhara village, children’s claw marks were also seen on the windshield of their vehicles. (As told to the media by the members of the team that went to Kuldhara) But it is also true that the stories of ghosts in Kuldhara are just an illusion.
According to historians, Paliwal Brahmins used to bury their wealth, which contained huge quantities of gold, silver, diamonds and jewels, underground. That is why whoever comes here starts digging at various places. With the hope that they might get hold of that gold. Even today this village is found scattered here and there.
