She managed to maintain her position as the top Indian tennis player in singles and doubles of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) for a continuous decade from 2003 to 2013. This player, who became famous globally at the age of just 18, was awarded the ‘Padma Shri’ award in 2006. She is the youngest player to receive this honour.
