Mumbai, 7 December (IANS). In view of the upcoming municipal elections in Maharashtra, the hustle and bustle in the political circles has intensified. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena spokesperson Arun Sawant reacted sharply to Sanjay Raut’s attempt to instigate Marathi-Marwari-Gujarati feud in Mumbai. Sawant said that as the elections approach, attempts will be made to create division in the society through false controversies and hoaxes.
Speaking to IANS on Saturday, Arun Sawant said that as the municipal elections are approaching, some people will try to create discord between the Marathi, Marwari and Gujarati communities in Mumbai. This is a dangerous and false narrative which is being spread only for the sake of politics. The characteristics of a Marathi person lie in bravery, courage, and hard work and he never tolerates injustice.
He said Shiv Sena, which follows the ideas of its founder and Hindu heart emperor Balasaheb Thackeray, has always stood for the rights and justice of the Marathi person. Regarding Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, he said that we are always ready to protect the identity of Marathi people and Maharashtra. It was alleged that Sanjay Raut and leaders like him have already driven away Marathi people from Mumbai and mortgaged the identity of Maharashtra in the service of the Gandhi family. Despite this, he is making false allegations.
Sawant warned that if BJP or any other party tries to cast a bad light on Mumbai and Maharashtra, Shiv Sena will never tolerate it. Taking sharp aim at Sanjay Raut, he said that this is a part of politics. In the last 25-30 years when Sanjay Raut had the power of Mumbai Municipal Corporation, he did nothing to protect the identity of Maharashtra. He remained busy only in looting the resources of Mumbai.
Sawant further said that Mumbai is a cosmopolitan city, where people of different castes, religions and communities live and work together. The people of Mumbai are alert and will not fall into the trap of Sanjay Raut. He will support Mahayuti as Mahayuti has always had a focus on development and prosperity. He is working to make Maharashtra number-1.
