Sawai Madhopur : Irrigation Department has supplied food in the name of cleaning the minor canal of Morel Dam. Due to which, due to the breach of Diwara Minor Canal near Malarna Dungar subdivision headquarters on Tuesday, about 8 bighas of mustard crop of more than half a dozen farmers was flooded.
Due to the supply of food by the Irrigation Department in the name of cleaning the minor canal, the canal got filled with water and broke. Due to which the mustard crops standing in the farmers’ fields were filled with water. After getting information about the incident, farmers reached the spot and informed the officials of the Irrigation Department about the incident. Where after the information, Junior Engineer Vinod Meena reached the spot and started the work of connecting the broken canal.
The victim farmers Bhagchand Meena, Tikaram Meena, Pukhraj Meena, Girraj, Lalaram, Bharatlal etc. told that the employees of the irrigation department of Diwara Minor Canal of Morel Dam, in collusion with the contractor, released water in the canals in the name of cleanliness by merely supplying food. . Due to which the canal is overflowing and breaking at some places. At some places, the canal wall is breaking and flooding the fields with canal water, ruining the crops of farmers. The affected farmers told that if the Irrigation Department had cleaned the canals in time and released water into the canals, then the farmers’ crops would not have been ruined by canal water.
