Sawai Madhopur : Wildlife Forensic DNA Unit will be formed to solve wildlife crimes in Rajasthan. This Wildlife Forensic DNA Unit will be established in Jaipur. Ranthambore Tiger Reserve of Sawai Madhopur will also benefit from its establishment in Jaipur. This will be North India’s first hi-tech unit under the supervision of State SFL. Which will cost around Rs 14 crore to build.
Ranthambore Tiger Reserve is called the Tiger Factory of Rajasthan and the paradise of wildlife of Rajasthan. Many rare species of wildlife are found here including tiger, baghera, bear. Wildlife is found in abundance in Ranthambore. Due to which wildlife crimes also occur more here. Which will be controlled by the Wildlife Forensic DNA Unit. Along with this, the samples which are sent out of Rajasthan after the death of tiger and other wildlife from here, can now be sent to Jaipur. Due to which the reports of samples will be available soon. However, this report is not made public by the Forest Department.
The deaths of these tigers and tigresses in Ranthambore are still a mystery.
On January 31, 2023, tigress T-114 and one of her cubs were killed. The cause of death was not disclosed by the Forest Department. On July 8 this year, tiger T-58 (Rocky), the owner of the largest territory (50 sq km area) of Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, died on Sunday. The cause of death has not been revealed yet. The case of death of tigress T-79’s cubs has also not been solved. Recently, the dead body of Tiger T-86 was found lying in a field in Ulyana village in Ranthambore. On which the forest department is silent. Now help will be available in all such cases after the formation of Wildlife Forensic DNA Unit. Regarding the matter, Rajasthan’s Chief Wildlife Warden PK Upadhyay says that Rajasthan will benefit a lot by setting up a Wildlife Forensic DNA Unit in Jaipur. We will get relief from sending our samples to Dehradun and Hyderabad. Where there is already huge pressure due to samples coming from all over the country.
