Schools closed in Delhi from Monday, CM Atishi announced

New Delhi, November 17 (IANS). Amid increasing pollution in Delhi, Group 4 restrictions are being implemented from Monday. In view of this, all other schools except classes 10th and 12th will remain closed in the country’s capital Delhi.

Chief Minister Atishi on Sunday evening announced closure of physical classes for all students except classes 10 and 12 in view of increasing air pollution in the capital.

CM Atishi said in a post on social media platform “

Let us inform that in view of the increasing air pollution in Delhi, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) constituted by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the Environment Ministry has started the fourth phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi from Monday (November 18). -4) has been decided to be implemented.

After implementation of GRAP-4, many stringent measures will be implemented by the government to control the air quality levels. In this phase, strict restrictions will be imposed on factories, construction works, and traffic, so that pollution can be controlled.

It is noteworthy that when the pollution level increases significantly and the average AQI crosses 450, then the fourth phase of GRAP is implemented. After the implementation of Grap-4, the restrictions are the highest and most stringent.

After implementation of Grap-4, trucks, loaders and other heavy vehicles are not allowed to enter Delhi. However, vehicles supplying essential commodities are allowed entry. All types of construction and demolition work are banned. State governments also decide on online classes for school students and work from home for government and private offices. Odd-even decision can also be taken in the fourth step, although it is not necessary.

AQI was recorded beyond 500 in Delhi-NCR on Sunday. AQI was recorded in dangerous category in many areas. According to ‘AQI.in’, Delhi’s AQI was 477 at 8 am in the morning which increased to 548 in the evening. Apart from this, AQI of Alipore is 586, Anand Lok is 586, Anand Parvat is 521, Anand Vihar is 608, Ashok Vihar Phase-1 is 539, Bawana Industrial Area is 534, Bhalswa Landfill is 508, Greater Kailash is 586, ITI Shahdara is 608. , Kalkaji is 646 and PGDAV College is 701.
