Hyderabad, 5 December (IANS). Former minister and senior BRS leader Harish Rao has been arrested by the police on Thursday morning. When Rao tried to go to the house of party MLA Kaushik Reddy, the police arrested him.
According to the information, the police had registered a case against Kaushik Reddy at Banjara Hills police station on Wednesday for obstructing police duty and threatening. However, the large number of policemen deployed to arrest Kaushik Reddy did not allow Harish Rao to meet him.
The police threw them out, leading to a heated argument between Harish Rao and the police officials. After this the police arrested him. The BRS workers accompanying Harish Rao tried to stop the police vehicle carrying him, but they did not succeed. They raised slogans against the state government, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the police for vendetta politics.
According to media reports, Kaushik Reddy had gone to Banjara Hills police station on Wednesday to lodge a complaint against the Chief Minister and alleged that his phone was being tapped.
However, when the Station House Officer (SHO) tried to leave without registering the complaint, an argument broke out between him and the BRS MLA. Based on the officer’s complaint, the police have registered a case against the MLA for obstructing a police officer on duty.
