Shilpa Shetty’s lawyer’s statement came out after ED raid on Raj Kundra’s premises

Mumbai, November 29 (IANS). The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday raided the premises of businessman Raj Kundra, husband of actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra.

The raid was part of the ongoing investigation into an alleged money laundering case. Shilpa Shetty’s lawyer Prashant Patil has now given a statement in this matter.

In a statement, Patil clarified, “There have been reports in the media that my client Shilpa Shetty Kundra has been raided by the Enforcement Directorate. These reports are not true, there has been no raid by the Enforcement Directorate on them, because they have nothing to do with any kind of crime. However, investigation is going on in Raj Kundra’s case and he is cooperating in the investigation to bring out the truth.

The lawyer said, “I would request the electronic and print media to refrain from using the videos, photographs and name of Shilpa Shetty Kundra, as they have nothing to do with this case. Strict cognizance will be taken against irresponsible journalism.”

ED has raided Raj Kundra’s residence in Santa Cruz. Apart from this, ED is conducting searches at 15 places in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.

Kundra, facing charges of money laundering through Bitcoin, had received a notice from the Enforcement Directorate on October 3, directing him to vacate his Juhu bungalow and Pune-based farmhouse.

In response, he filed a petition in the Mumbai High Court challenging the notice.

In this connection, the Mumbai Crime Branch had arrested the businessman in July 2021, charging him with several charges under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology Act. He was later granted bail by a city court.
