Kota : After the state government increased the fixed charge in electricity bills, the new rates will come into effect from August 1. In such a situation, electricity consumers will have to pay the bill coming in the month of September at an increased rate. Shantanu Bhattacharya, Kota Head of the power company KE DL, said that no change has been made in the unit rate by the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Authority but the fixed charge has been increased. In such a situation, the electricity coming in September will come at an increased rate. Bhattacharya says that there are about 2 lakh 62 thousand electricity consumers in Kota, now the bill of which consumer will increase according to how much electricity he consumes. At the same time, Kota JVVNL officials say that some changes have also been made in the plan of discounts given to industries, where till now the industries using electricity at night used to get a discount of 7.5 percent. Now there is a provision of discount on using electricity between 12 to 4 in the day.
Industrial consumers using electricity at this time will get a 10 percent discount in unit rates. The rate for domestic connection on 11 KV line has been increased from Rs 250 per KV to Rs 275 per KV. For non-domestic connections up to 5 KW, the rate has been increased from Rs 300 per month to Rs 330 and for consumption of 200 to 500 units, the rate has been increased from Rs 380 to Rs 420.
After the government increased the fixed charge, consumers say that instead of giving relief, the government has put an additional burden on consumers. Due to this, consumers will have to pay extra money while consumers need relief in this ever-increasing inflation.
