Jodhpur : The bride and groom and their family had to pay the brunt of non-payment of rent of Rs 5 crore due on the Heritage Hotel in Jodhpur. It is alleged that the property owner switched off the lights and water of the hotel on Wednesday morning. After this the main gate of the hotel was closed. Due to this, people who had come to attend the wedding remained sitting outside on the road for 6 hours. The wedding functions of the bride and groom who had booked the destination wedding venue also got delayed. The groom’s father alleges that the dispute between the leasing company and the property owner spoiled his son’s marriage.
Booked for destination wedding
Groom’s father Dr. Raj Singh told that his son Amit Kumar’s marriage with Archita was to take place on 11th December. Archita’s family has come here from Haridwar. For this, he had booked Bijolai Palace located near Golasni for 3 June 2024 till the afternoon of 9, 10, 11 and 12 December. Both the families had come to this hotel on December 9 as part of their destination wedding. We had booked it for Rs 5 lakh for about 200 people. The main function of the wedding was to be held here today on 11th December in which procession, hawan and pheras were to be held.
‘The fight between the company and the foundation ruined our marriage’
Dr. Raj Singh told- As soon as we woke up at 5:00 this morning, we got information that the main gate of the hotel has been closed. About 200 of our guests are staying here, including children. Guests from four-five states have also come. During this time, lights and water were switched off from 5:00 pm. After this we requested the hotel manager to open the door and also make arrangements for light and water if some of our guests are coming from outside. But, no one listened. After this we informed Rajiv Gandhi police station.
The groom’s father said – we were kept under house arrest for 6 hours
The police arrived around 11:00 in the morning and after about 6 hours, after persuasion at their level, the police got the gate opened. But lights and water have not been turned on yet. Whereas today the main function of our wedding was to take place due to which almost half of our day has passed. We have been kept under house arrest in the hotel, neither can we go nor call anyone inside. We were told that Indigrowth Company of Delhi has taken Bijaulai Palace on lease from Jal Bhagirathi Foundation. They had not paid the rent, hence due to a dispute between the two, lights and water were switched off and we were harassed.
Raj Singh told – This palace was booked from Mahipal Singh Rathore, who looked after the management of the hotel. He was given Rs 50,000 as booking amount. After this, Rs 5 lakh more was given. We had no dispute regarding money, yet we are being harassed by both the parties.
The bride said- spoiled the auspicious time
Bride Archita said- It is not right to stop lights and water on the wedding day. Even though it is not our fault. We are under house arrest. Neither water nor electricity is coming. Functions 9 and 10 were completed with ease. The main event was to take place today. No one has been able to go to the washroom nor has anyone taken a bath yet. Ganesh puja was to happen at 10 o’clock, but it could not happen. Whereas Bandoli was to be held at 12 o’clock and Phere at 7 pm, Varmala was to be held between 8 and 9 o’clock. Now all programs have to be cancelled. Now we will just have to organize a round by taking out Bandoli. Spoiled all our good times.
guests sitting on the road
Groom Amit Kumar (28) told- In the morning, father had informed me about the whole matter. When I inquired, I found out that they had a dispute regarding the lease. For this reason our marriage has been targeted. Today the lights were deliberately cut so that there could be a dispute. Have to pay the lease. When our guests came early in the morning, they remained sitting outside on the road. Despite trying for two and a half hours no one was found.
Owner said – Hotel was taken on lease by making false claim
The hotel property belongs to Jal Bhagirathi Foundation. The representative of the Foundation’s Managing Trustee Prithviraj Singh said that the Bijolai Palace Hotel was given on lease. For this, two partners of Equity Hospitality, Vimal Singh and Vijay Girdhar had come to Jal Bhagirathi Foundation. He had falsely claimed that the Golden Tulip Hotel Chain was his.
