Jodhpur : Autonomous Government Department’s order for direct recruitment process on vacant posts of sanitation workers in urban bodies of the state was postponed on Wednesday evening. With this, the recruitment process of sanitation workers came to a halt. In such a situation, Jodhpur Municipal Corporation, which is facing shortage of sanitation workers, seems to be losing hope of moving forward in its cleanliness ranking. There is already a shortage of sanitation workers in proportion to the city’s population. In many places, work has to be done with contract employees. The population of the city is also increasing.
In fact, in a city with an estimated population of 15 lakh, there are a total of 3700 sanitation workers in both the municipal corporations. Out of this, about 50 employees have been deployed in the offices and offices of government officials on verbal orders. 92 sanitation workers are being made to work as babus in the corporation office. The remaining 3558 employees are doing duty in the field. Then the cleanliness system of the city has broken down. The cancellation of recruitment of sanitation workers by the government will affect the cleanliness system of the city.
Sorting of applications not completed
With the postponement of the process of recruitment of sanitation workers, the hard work of the 12 teams in the corporation which were sorting the applications from morning till late night for the last two days has also gone waste. Actually, on behalf of Valmiki Samaj, there was a demand to give completeness concession to Valmiki Samaj in the experience certificate and if this was not done then the recruitment should be cancelled. For this reason, recruitment in Jaipur was canceled on Tuesday. On Wednesday, a memorandum was given on behalf of Valmiki Samaj by protesting in front of the District Collectorate.
4 sweepers are needed for every 1000 people

According to this, there is a need of 6 thousand sanitation workers for the estimated population of 15 lakh in the city. There is an additional requirement of 2400 sanitation workers under the stepping pattern. Whereas at present a total of 3700 sanitation workers are working in the city. Most of them are sitting as babus in the corporation and some are working in the offices of government officers.
