Sikar : Under the Vivah Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the team of Child Helpline 1098 organized an awareness program on Wednesday. The program took place under the direction of Dr. Gargi Sharma, Assistant Director of Child Empowerment Department, Sikar. During this time, in the Anganwadi sector meeting of Dhod area, discussions were held with Anganwadi workers of more than 50 wards to stop child marriage. During this, the effects of child marriage on the physical and mental development of children and the ill effects of child marriage were explained.
An oath was administered to Anganwadi supervisors and Anganwadi workers to stop child marriage. Under the Child Marriage Prohibition Act 2006, there is a provision of 2 years’ imprisonment for confectioners, pandits, photographers, baraatis, tentwalas, DJs and all those participating in child marriages.
