Sikar : Animal Husbandry Department organized a seminar and quiz program on Saturday under the Anti Microbial Resistance Awareness Week being celebrated from 18 to 24 November on the initiative of World Health Organization.
Veterinary assistants and livestock assistants from Ajitgarh Khandela and Shrimadhopur blocks participated in the program that lasted till evening. Dr. Deepak Aggarwal, Joint Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Sikar, advised the veterinary staff to use antibiotics only when required and in the prescribed quantity and time limit, so that the entire humanity can be saved from the threat of antibiotic resistance.
Dr. Virendra Sharma, in-charge, District Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, explained in detail about antibiotic resistance and discussed how it can be combated. Dr. Mohanlal Aggarwal, Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Shrimadhopur told about the danger of increasing resistance to antibiotics in the animal husbandry sector. The increasing resistance of bacteria to antibiotics is a huge threat to the entire humanity.
Due to this, the antibiotics available for the treatment of bacterial diseases in animals and humans are likely to become ineffective in the future. That is why this week is celebrated by the World Health Organization with the aim of spreading awareness. Dr. Vinod Kumar, Senior Veterinary Officer, Thoi and veterinary assistants and livestock assistants of all the institutions were present in the program.
