Silent Spread of Intestinal Infections: Don’t Ignore the Symptoms

New Delhi, 19 December: In today’s busy lifestyle, nutritional needs are often overlooked, and health takes a backseat. This neglect can lead to various illnesses that become apparent only when the condition worsens.

Mild stomach pain is often ignored, but it could be an early sign of poor intestinal health. Intestinal infections occur when bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites multiply in the small or large intestines, leading to symptoms like stomach pain, digestion problems, constipation, hormonal imbalance, vomiting, and fever. Severe infections may even cause worm infestations, weakening the body significantly.

Common causes of intestinal infections include consumption of contaminated water and food, frequent antibiotic use, weak digestion, eating without washing hands, excessive junk food intake, and stress.

Ayurveda offers several remedies for intestinal care. Drinking buttermilk daily at noon, especially with asafoetida (hing) and cumin (jeera), helps eliminate harmful bacteria. Pomegranate juice can improve intestinal function and control infections, especially useful if diarrhea occurs. Bel (wood apple) juice, known for its cooling properties, is beneficial during summers to cleanse the intestines. Triphala powder taken with lukewarm water aids intestinal cleansing and reduces infection risk. Consuming turmeric with milk also helps reduce intestinal inflammation due to its antibacterial qualities.

Recognizing and addressing intestinal symptoms early can prevent serious health issues. Proper care and simple Ayurvedic practices can keep the intestines healthy and the body strong.
