Jaipur : elections will be held simultaneously in about 230 advocate bars of the state today. Under the rules of One Bar, One Vote of the Supreme Court and High Court, the annual elections for 2024-25 will be held on Friday in about 230 registered bar associations of the state including the High Court Bar Association, Jaipur and the Bar Association Jaipur and the District Bar Association. Every year, voting takes place simultaneously in all the advocate bars of the state on the second Friday of December. And counting is done the next day on Saturday. However, there are some bars whose annual elections are held every two years as per their constitution. In such a situation, elections will be held simultaneously in all the bars except them today.
Highest number of voters in High Court Bar
Advocate Rajesh Karnal, election officer of High Court Bar Association Jaipur, said that 5,716 voters will vote in the elections of High Court Bar Association Jaipur. Here 58 candidates are in the fray for 17 posts including President and General Secretary. There is a contest for the post of President between five candidates Rajesh Maharishi, Mahendra Shandilya, Sangeeta Sharma, Indresh Sharma and Rajeev Sogarwal. He said that voting will be held from 8 am to 5 pm in the Satishchandra Auditorium of the High Court Bar. Slips have been issued to the voters through the link so that no one faces any problem in taking the ballot. 55 booths have been made in Rajasthan High Court for voting. For security purposes, 70 policemen have been deployed at the High Court Bar.
Voting will also be held for the country’s biggest bar
According to the number of advocates, the Bar Association of Jaipur Sessions Court, Jaipur is considered to be the largest bar in the country. This time there will be voting for office bearers also. 4,880 voters are registered for the elections of The Bar Association Jaipur. Chief Electoral Officer Ram Manohar Sharma said that 6 candidates for the post of President of the Bar – Sandeep Luhadia, Somesh Chandra Sharma, Rajesh Chaudhary, Surendra Singh Rajawat, Rajneesh Gaur and Pramod Kumar Sharma are in the fray. Similarly, 1831 voters will vote in the District Bar Association of Collectorate.
Jamvaramgarh bar election results banned
The High Court has banned the release of the results of the Bar Association Jamvaramgarh elections to be held on Friday. Bar President Rama Shankar filed a petition saying that according to Section 12 of the Constitution of the Bar Association, the elections of the Association are held every two years. According to the earlier letter issued by BCR, the tenure is only for 2 years. The elections were held in December, 2023. In such a situation, the next elections are to be held in December 2025. Some lawyers decided to hold elections on December 13 and also formed an election steering committee. In such a situation, the action of the Election Steering Committee should be cancelled.
