Sirohi Railway Hospital of Abu Road relying on one permanent and two contractual workers

Sirohi : About 10 thousand serving, retired railwaymen and their family members depend on the Railway Sub Divisional Hospital located in the residential colony of Abu Road station, the last largest station of Ajmer Railway Division in Delhi-Ahmedabad Railway Division, for treatment. Despite this, only one permanent and two contractual doctors are working in the hospital. The bed capacity of the wards has also reduced to 12. There is not even a single post of permanent disease specialist doctor. Due to shortage of doctors, railway employees and their families have to face problems. Patients are forced to seek treatment elsewhere.

Two posts of doctor vacant

There are three sanctioned posts of permanent doctor in the hospital, out of which two posts are lying vacant for a long time. Every month about 3 thousand patients come to the hospital for treatment. Which includes employees of Abu Road and roadside stations and their families. The number of admitted patients is different. Despite pressure from patients, the vacant posts of permanent doctors are not being filled.

lock on male ward

Earlier men’s ward and women’s ward were separate. At that time the bed capacity of the wards was 30. Presently the bed capacity has been reduced to 12. Due to this, the separate men’s ward was closed. At present, men’s ward is being operated in one room and women’s ward is being operated in the other room located in the premises which was earlier a women’s ward. Where there are 6-6 beds. There is a nursing staff room between these two wards.

first there were specialist doctors

Earlier, there were permanent posts of nose-ear-throat, surgeon and physician doctor in the hospital, which were abolished many years ago. There is a shortage of physicians and surgeons in the hospital. Boards with the names of the posts of Additional Chief Medical Superintendent and Chief Nursing Superintendent were hung on different rooms in the hospital, which are no longer visible. Looks like both these posts have been abolished.
