Tonk, November 14 (IANS). The issue of independent candidate Naresh Meena slapping SDM in Deoli-Uniara assembly by-election of Rajasthan is becoming heated. Veteran BJP leader Rajendra Rathore called it an attempt to weaken democracy.
Rajendra Rathod said that even if there is any kind of objection against the officer conducting the elections, the law has made a provision for it, it is not a good tradition to resort to violence. If he had any problem, he should have complained about it to the Election Commission. But I remember an attack on a returning officer has never happened before in Rajasthan. This is very unfortunate and such incidents should not happen again.
He further said that one should have acted with restraint in this matter, there are limits to what a public representative can do when he speaks among the public. It is absolutely not appropriate to exceed discipline and behavior.
Rajendra Rathore, former leader of opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly, said that there will be more than a dozen people in the Rajasthan Assembly, but if someone thinks that by becoming Robin Hood, he will turn the public’s attention in his favor, then such a possibility is not possible. Once in a momentary excitement, some people can be included with you, but in the end it is a loss. There is a loss for the political party they represent and there is a loss for their own supporters too. I do not consider this to be appropriate at all, whatever happened, should not have happened and he should have exercised restraint.
The BJP leader further said that nowadays is the era of Digital India. Everything is captured on camera. In such a situation, this incident is also captured on camera and there should be a thorough investigation without any malicious intent.
Let us tell you that during the by-election on Wednesday in Deoli-Uniara assembly seat of Rajasthan, Congress rebel and independent candidate Naresh Meena had allegedly slapped a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM). Whose video went viral on social media.
