Slavery mentality greatly affected India’s development journey: PM Modi

Chandigarh, December 3 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Chandigarh on Tuesday and participated in the program organized regarding three new laws. During this, PM Modi spoke in detail about the usefulness of the three new laws.

Prime Minister Modi expressed happiness on coming to Chandigarh. He said, “When I come to Chandigarh, I feel that I have come among my people. I congratulate the country on the implementation of all three laws. ,

The Prime Minister said, “Three years after the Revolution of 1857, the British brought the Indian Penal Code in 1860. After this the Indian Evidence Act came, then the draft of CrPC came into existence. All these were brought to punish the Indians.”

He said, “There were amendments in these from time to time. But, his real character remained the same. Why should a law made for slavery be followed in a free country? Neither did we ask ourselves this question, nor did the people in power consider it necessary to think about it. “The mentality of slavery greatly influenced India’s development journey.”

In his address, the Prime Minister said, “In Chandigarh, punishment was given for vehicle theft in just 11 months. The accused was punished within just 20 days for creating unrest in the area.”

The Prime Minister said, “In Delhi too, it took only 60 days from the FIR to the decision in a case. The accused was sentenced to 20 years. In a murder case in Chhapra, Bihar, it took only 14 days from the FIR to the verdict and the accused were sentenced to life imprisonment. These decisions show the strength and impact of the Judicial Code.”

The Prime Minister further said in his address, “When the government works honestly for the people of the country and the state, such results are seen, which we all should welcome.”

He said, “Many people avoided investing in India thinking that if any kind of lawsuit was filed, it would take years. But, now it is all over. Now all investors can invest very easily. Undoubtedly this will give a new impetus to the country’s economy. The country’s productivity will increase.”

The Prime Minister said, “Earlier, if someone met with an accident, people were afraid to even help. He was afraid that he might get into some legal trouble. But, now all these hassles have been eliminated. More than 1500 old laws of British rule have been abolished. When these laws were abolished, people were surprised whether we were carrying such laws in the country.”

He said, “These days there is a debate going on regarding the laws related to Waqf Board. We should also give importance to those laws which work to enhance the self-respect of the citizens.”
